Lavandula Angustifolia

Lavender essential oil is one of few essential oils that can be applied directly to the skin (such as on minor burns) without diluting. The oil also relieves the itching and stinging of insect bites. In addition, its high ester content makes it useful as a calmative. For insomnia try a few drops on a tissue next your pillow cover.

HISTORY
Lavender has been used for several thousands of years, dating back to the ancient Greeks. The Romans were responsible for the spread of lavender throughout Europe, taking it with them everywhere they went in order to have local supplies of lavender oil which they used extensively in bath water and soap. Most varieties of lavender are originally native to Mediterranean countries.
