HISTORY
Captain James Cook and botanist Joseph Banks sailed to Australia in the late 18th century. It was on this journey that Tea Tree Oil was first introduced to western culture. Banks observed the Aborigines making poultices from the leaves of the tea tree to treat a variety of skin problems. Boiling the leaves also yielded a tasty brew similar to lemon tea. The tree, scientifically known as, Melaleuca Alternifolia, acquired its now common name, "Tea Tree," after this brew.
